Cambodia Exported More Than 300,000 Tons of Rice to China In 2021

PHNOM PENH: According to a report released by CCIC Cambodia Co. Ltd. on 31 December 2021, Cambodia's rice exports to China increased by 306,222 tons in 2021, the highest of such export numbers in the rice sector between the two countries.

This is an increase of 22.82% compared to rice export data from 2020, with export figures exceeding 300,000 tons for the first time, according to the official Facebook page of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.

On Saturday, 1 January, the General Manager of CCIC Cambodia, Chen Qisheng, said that Cambodia’s rice exports to China have been steadily increasing from about 5,000 tons in 2012 to more than 300,000 tons in 2021.

So far, Cambodia and China have signed two trade agreements, the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP).

With these two important documents, economists expect that Cambodia will export more agricultural products to the Chinese market. China is a large market for Cambodia's agricultural products and each year, the volume of agricultural products exported to China steadily increase.
